GREEN COVE SPRINGS -- The Clay County Agricultural Fair was presented the “Blue Ribbon Fair” award by the Florida Federation of Fairs at their state convention in May. The award represents the highest recognition a fair can receive.
During the fair, evaluators grade every aspect of the event. Receiving the award is an indicator of maintaining high standards and continuous improvement
“We’re extremely proud of receiving this award for the 6th consecutive year” said Mike Morgan, chairman of the Board for the Clay County Fair Association. "This is a result of the tremendous job our volunteers do to make sure all fair guests have an enjoyable experience."
In addition, the fair will be featured on the cover of the new Florida Federation of Fairs Directory for 2009-2010.This was the result of the fair entering a photo contest and being one of four fairs photos in
Attendance results for the 2009 fair were up 3.3 percent from the previous year. Final attendance was 84,152. This was especially rewarding considering the down economy. The fair set daily attendance records on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the second week. The fair ran from April 2-11.
According to Morgan, “Overall the 2009 fair was a great success. We are currently planning for our 2010 fair. The dates are set for April 1-10, 2010. We’re looking forward to presenting another Blue Ribbon Fair for
