ORANGE PARK – Volunteers are needed for a transportation program that helps low-income cancer patients living in Clay County to attend daily or weekly treatments.

The American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program provides free transportation for cancer patients to and from these life-saving appointments. Volunteer drivers donate their time and the use of their personal vehicle to transport these patients.

Dozens of volunteers are needed to ensure that all patients are getting the care they desperately need to get back on the “Road To Recovery.” Drivers are not required to have  special skills or education - just a safe driving record, a valid driver’s license, some free time and a vehicle in good working condition.

Training sessions, maps, and directions are provided to volunteer drivers.

Call the American Cancer Society at (904) 391-3605 or email suzanne.greer@cancer.org for more details.
