ORANGE PARK – Two young children found in an Orange Park home allegedly being used as an illegal meth lab are in state custody.
The Friday, Jan. 29, arrests of five people, including the parents and grandmother of the boys ages 6 and 7, came as the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Unit was conducting a search warrant at the home in the 1300 block of Solar Circle, according to arrest reports.
When officers entered the home they found methamphetamine being made using the “one pot method.” The process – described by the Sheriff’s Office as “extremely dangerous” -- involves heating several hazardous chemicals and combining them with pseudoephedrine, an over the county cold medication.
When officers entered the home they found Jeffrey Martin Marling, 34, coming out of a bedroom room where an “active clandestine” meth lab was located, the arrest report says. Detectives also found 1.8 grams of methamphetamine in a safe in the house, the report says.
Marling is charged with manufacturing meth with a child present, possession of Oxycodone and other related drug-related charges, according to arrest reports.
Also arrested were Glen Gerard Cazares, 37, and Tiana Marie Turner-Cazares, 31, who are the parents of the two boys found in the home. Turner is charged with conspiring to manufacture meth in the presence of a minor, while Cazares is charged with conspiracy and renting for manufacture of meth, the arrest report says, the arrest report says.
The children’s grandmother, Julie Ann Turner, 48, and Michael Anthony Augerlavoie, 45, also are charged with conspiring to manufacture meth in the presence of children, the arrest report says.
A hazardous materials company was called to remove the dangerous chemicals from the property, the Sheriff’s Office said.
