ORANGE PARK – The first annual Chad Brown No Limit Hold’ Em Championship which was a three-day event last week held at the Poker Room at the Orange Park Kennel Club crowned Andy Chitty from Savannah as the winner while Orange Park resident Eli Gomez grabbed second place totaling $34,240.

 

In addition to Gomez, Orange Park had another resident reach the top ten when Horace Thomas took 7th place and a total earning of $5,990.

 

Gomez and Thomas were also winners of the Poker Rooms’ 2009 World Series of Poker Satellite Tournament.

 

214 players entered for the four-days of play with the top 24 sharing in the $171,200 prize pool.  The Final Table was recorded for television and will be broadcast in the spring.  It will be the first televised poker tournament from a Florida facility.  

 

"We had a tremendous turnout and great reviews from professional as well as amateur players," said Tournament Director, Anthony Furnier.  “It was so successful that we are planning a similar event for August.”

Sixth - Thomas Connor, Jacksonville, 6,845
