GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Mike Arrington is hoping the location of his new custom motorcycle shop is a big advantage.
Super Mike’s Pitstop at 3235 U.S. 17 is next to the Love2Ride shop north of Green Cove Springs. For Arrington, it’s a chance to talk to local motorcyclists about their rides and how he can help them improve performance.
"It’s not just a hot rod shop," said Arrington, who was trained at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix and has worked at a couple of Jacksonville area dealerships since moving to the area three years ago. "It’s mainly motorcycle service and repair. The goal to do custom modifications that is performance enhancing."
His previous experience includes working at Millenium Technologies in Wisconsin exposed him to ways to modify Harley-Davidson’s to improve their performance. Confederate motorcycles is another customer Arrington said he worked with to create a custom line of bikes.
A key factor for Arrington opening the Green Cove Springs shop was to offer the best customer service possible at an affordable hourly rate.
Arrington said his experience working at area dealerships was that the customer gets lost in the shuffle of so many bikes coming and going.
He works on domestic, metric and European model motorcycles at an hourly rate of $70, which he said is well below several Jacksonville-area dealerships.
"We’re almost half the price due to the lower overhead but we offer the same quality," Arrington said. "We’re not a high volume shop, so I’m able to give them everything they need as far as their motorcycle is concerned for the best ride and experience."
That could be some basic repairs or a tire change, or it could involve major modifications to the engine or exhaust."I don’t want to turn anybody away," Arrington said. "I will handle any type of need that a motorcyclists have that they would have."
The shop is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Call (904) 284-7002 or go online to www.superbikemikespitstop.com for more information.
